Governments have made attempt at solving them but they lack the human and financial resources needed to deal with it effectively I. Infant mortality 74 per 1000 birth Death among children under the age of 5 105 per 1000 children annual number of deaths 12 000 children It is considered that the main reasons for child death are malnutrition, weak health, poor sanitation and medical care. However, it is never been investigated how many of these children die not due to medical reasons but because of a lack of supervision (child neglect) or child abuse. Local mentality resist to studying and fully acknowledging the existence of this problem in Azerbaijan.
